So I found this list stupidly intimidating and honestly didn’t want to write one but at the same time, I felt like spotlighting the songs that I loved the most. These are the 12 most perfect songs of 2015, in my opinion, some were big songs, some were quiet album cuts, but all were beautiful and played excessively by me…

‘100 Days 100 Nights’ – G Herbo
“The song I listened to on a loop hundreds of times.”

‘Ain’t Heard Nothin Bout You’ – Lil Bibby + G Herbo
“The song that made me want to start a Bibby + Herb tribute group for karaoke purposes. I’m Herb.”

‘Alchemy’ – Mick Jenkins
“My favourite deep and meaningful song of 2015.”

‘A Message’ – Kelela
“My 2015 power break-up ballad.”

‘AM Radio’ – Earl Sweatshirt ft Wiki
“Great collaboration, I love how abstract this beat is. Also saw it live and Wiki fully hit himself in the head with the mic.”

‘Endz’ – Novelist
“A future London classic by one of the best UK MCs.”

‘Grief’ – Earl Sweatshirt
“I had a rough year for the first 6 months and related to this song more than any other.”

‘The Percocet + Stripper Joint’ – Future
“My 2015 happy song.”

‘I’m Rollin’ – G Herbo
“The perfect song to elbow people in the face to in 2015.”

‘Skrt’ – Kodak Black
“One of my favourite chilled party songs this year. Super hype but has a good message.”

‘Summertime’ – Vince Staples
“I love the lyrics to this song, they’re romantic in a dark way; ‘Do you like the sunshine, do you like the snow? Do you wanna talk about it or be alone?’”

‘The Wrong Way’ – Natia
“My summer anthem, dedicated to living life the wrong way.”

Plus if I could find an audio/video link to embed, this would have made the list too, so it gets its own special category…

Song of the year:
The Blacker The Berry‘ – Kendrick Lamar
“One of the most important songs of the last year, and totally perfect. I love the anger and frustration Lamar expresses, plus the twist on being the biggest hypocrite of the year. He’s a smart man.”
