Whatever you do, don’t refer to Bodega Bamz‘ new visual as a throwaway music video, Billy Bats is a certified short film. With his album, Sidewalk Exec, due on April 14th via 100 Keep It/Duck Down, Bamz explains that the video is a serious production, influenced by his favourite directors, John Carpenter, Alfred Hitchcock, Paul Thomas Anderson, Stanley Kubrick and Wong Kar-wai. He adds, “This music video for ‘Billy Bats’ acts as the sequel to our short film ‘The Streets Owe Me,’ starring Ohla, Cipha Sounds, Joell Ortiz, and myself, which is going to be released later this month.”
