If you don’t know about DJ D-Nice, you should really get to know. Obviously he’s pretty good on the wheels of steel, but he’s also a photographer, filmaker and all round creative dude. You may recognise the name, he was one third of Boogie Down Productions and got a million shout outs on Criminal Minded.

His blog is an interesting place to hang out as he features diverse pictures from him and KRS 1 twenty years ago to Lil’ Jon this week. His series of short films, True Hip Hop Stories really caught my eye. Though beautifully shot, they come across as down to earth as we hear rarely told stories from Pharoahe Monch, B-Real, Special Ed, Dana Dane, Monie Love, Joe Ski Love and YZ.

My personal favourite is the Homeless Emcee as it is both heartbreaking and inspirational at the same time. While exposing the cruelties of man, he demonstrates his own personal strength in the face of adversity.
