Hailing from North London, Lily Mercer is a DJ, Radio Presenter, Host and the founder and editor of Viper Magazine, which was born out of an ever present love of hip hop, a passion for words and a devotion to print publications.

She has a weekly radio show, The Lily Mercer Show, previously on Rinse FM and NTS, playing the best new, underground hip hop.Through the show, she developed a reputation as a tastemaker, playing artists like xxxtentacion, Anderson .Paak, Chance the Rapper, 6lack, SZA, Kali Uchis and more on UK radio for the first time. Previously the show was on Rinse FM from 2011 to 2018. She was also a regular voice on Beats1 [Apple Music’s internal radio station] representing London while hosting the city’s playlist hours.

As a DJ, Lily has spun for brands including adidas, Nike, BeatsByDre, ASOS, Stance Socks, Skinnydip, Ellesse, Billionaire Boys Club, Mary Katrantzou and Baby-G, plus held down warm up sets at live shows for Khalid, Zaytoven, DJ Premier, Denzel Curry, GoldLink, Novelist, plus Jay Prince and Kojey Radical’s first ever headlining shows in the UK. For Kali Uchis’ first ever UK tour, Lily was her show DJ. Lily has played several festivals including Born and Bred in London and 22 Fest in Amsterdam.

She’s played in a variety of east London’s popular clubs including Miranda at Ace Hotel, XOYO, Kamio, Birthdays, Old Blue Last, The Book Club, Queen of Hoxton and more. Since September 2016, Lily has run sister club nights, CAVALLI FURS and PYREX STIRS, in corporation with Goldenvoice AEG. The events have hosted shows and afterparties for DJ Premier, Flatbush ZOMBiES, CASISDEAD, Belly Squad, Jesse James Soloman, Jevon and Khalid’s first headlining London show. She’s also hosted live interviews with Anderson .Paak, Denzel Curry and SZA.

London born Lily Mercer writes about rebels and revolutionaries from all walks of life.In 2013, with no absorbing magazines left to buy Lily decided it was time to start her own and Viper was born. Now nine issues deep, previous cover stars have included Mr Eazi, Darq E Freaker, Kali Uchis, Schoolboy Q, DeJ Loaf, Earl Sweatshirt, Vince Staples, Novelist and most recently, 21 Savage and Trippie Redd.

In addition, Lily is a freelance journalist and has a First Class Honors Degree in Fashion Journalism from the London College of Fashion. As a journalist, she has contributed to Wonderland Magazine, Dazed & Confused, i-D Online, Clash Magazine, Noisey and Soul Culture. Lily has interviewed names like Mary J. Blige, Pete Rock, Wu-Tang Clan and Nas. Studying Journalism at London College of Fashion, Lily created a magazine in which she explored some of the causes of anger in young people, focusing on social issues. For this project, she received a First-Class honours degree. While studying, she worked for WAH! Magazine, eventually editing the magazine and assisting Sharmadean Reid during the launch of WAH! Nails. Lily also worked at SB.TV as the online editor and was responsible for the hip hop interviews on the channel.
