Another 2015 list, this time I ran through my twelve favourite videos…

‘Ain’t No Need’ – Joyce Wrice
“Anything Joyce does, I adore and the video for ‘Ain’t No Need’ was no different. Shot on VCR, the 90s-style visual added to the love affair I had with her music.”

‘Alright’ – Kendrick Lamar
“This video blew my mind from start to finish the first time I saw it. Beautifully shot but also offering up some really significant discussions, the video for ‘Alright’ made me love the song even more.”

‘Bambu’ – Kojey Radical
“One of the best in the UK, Kojey Radical released a striking video for his spoken word song, ‘Bambu’ this year. The black and white visual was more memorable than most other videos I saw these past 12 months.”

‘Endz’ – Novelist
“Novelist created an iconically London video, complete with a Channel U style phone number at the bottom of the screen. The 18 year old MC also directed the video for the self-produced song.”

‘Grief’ – Earl Sweatshirt
“One of my favourite songs of 2015 came with a striking thermographic video by Hiro Murai. The video also came with the announcement of Earl’s forthcoming album, ‘I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside’, which was a bonus.”

‘Lionel Jesse’ – Jesse James Soloman
“One of my favourite rappers representing London right now, Jesse James Soloman’s video for Lionel Jesse was so brief but his flow pattern and the grainy shots made it an instant favourite in 2015.”

‘Man Don’t Care’ – JME ft Giggs
“One of the biggest songs in the UK this Summer, ‘Man Don’t Care’ saw two of the best MCs in London go head to head merging their iconic grime and road rap sounds. The video featured crazy cameos, including my old boss, Jamal Edwards.”

‘Ridin Round’ – Kali Uchis
“I loved the original of ‘Ridin Round’ but this DJ Dahi rework spiced the song up even more for me. The video, as all Kali videos, is gorgeous and shows her individuality but this one was special because it had cameos from Claire and Shakira, two of my favourite women in music.”

‘Senorita’ – Vince Staples
“Like ‘Alright’, this video had a huge impact on me the first time I watched it because the ending serves up such an important discussion. I was really disappointed when various people told me they didn’t watch ‘Senorita’ all the way through.”

‘Suede’ – NxWorries
One of the best songs of the year got a video this Winter that was full of sunny vibes. With a voice like Anderson .Paak’s, this track couldn’t be more perfect.”

‘Sunday Candy’ – Donnie Trumpet and The Social Experiment
“Shot in one take, this video was amazing because of the way it made you question how they produced such an impressive visual.”

‘The Wrong Way’ – Natia
“This song slipped under my radar in 2014 so I was glad I came across the video when it was released this Summer. Not only is the video great, Natia also wins best dressed artist in a rap video in 2015.”
