The Fader finally got round to releasing their interview with Danny Brown. The rapper gives a little more insight into The Hybrid as he talks about how he uses sexually explicit lyrics to mask his socially conscious intentions and the time he almost got picked up by Roc-A-Fella.

Though I knew the story, I wasn’t aware that Bazaar Royale was the first person in New York to spot Brown’s talent. Chappelle’s Show fans will remember Royale from the Ask A Gay Dude segment. “What is with the rainbow?!”

Fader Interview

In my recent posts, The Year In Albums and The Year In Mixtapes, Brown swooped into No.1 with witty bars, creative concepts and outlandish insults. He also stood the test of time as my restless ears were captured for months longer than other releases could. I still listen to Brown everyday and have done for months on end. Many of his tracks still sound as good as, if not better than the first time I heard them. 2010 saw Brown penetrate the front line of Hip Hop. The Detroit MC has rapidly become the best rapper in today’s game in my eyes. I don’t care if you agree or not, Danny Brown is the truth.

The best thing about Brown is his versatility as he races around the various subgenres of Hip Hop faster than Speedy Gonzalez. I feel like he’s as nomadic as me when it comes to music and that’s why he’s able to satisfy my ears time and time again. For me, the most anticipated music of 2011 is sure to come out of Danny Brown’s mind.
