Read below for a quick mini-review of the latest mixtape BetterOffDEAD from the trio that is Flatbush Zombies…

Flabush-Zombies-Better-Off-Dead

One thing that immediately surprises about the latest offering from Flatbush Zombies is that throughout the whole nineteen-track duration, only two rappers make guest appearances.

Those two guest appearances just happen to be two of the hottest names in hip-hop right now, Danny Brown and Action Bronson, but it’s apparent that the Zombies have plenty of belief in their own ability.

Production is also kept strictly in-house, save for LiveFromHell which comes courtesy of Harry Fraud and Obey City’s downtempo TP4, as Erick Arc Elliott oversees seventeen of the nineteen tracks. Elliott manages to provide a crop of varied beats, which all for the most part sound like they could have come from completely different producers.

Going back to the tracks where Bronson and Brown do appear (Club Soda and Drug Parade respectively), those are both definite highlights on the tape, but the haunting soundscapes of opener Amerikkkan PieNephilim and Death 2 cannot be ignored and see Meech and Juice in fine lyrical form.

Basically, you need to hear BetterOffDEAD, and it’s available now via Electric KoolAde Records.
