Oakland native, New York City-based rapper, Gita, has released her new EP, Escaping The Dream World. Check out this mini-review…

Since breaking onto the scene with Hood Rich, Gita has affirmed herself as one of the female rappers to keep any eye on in an otherwise male-dominated scene.

Mardi Gras, which features the slick production of London’s very own Darq E Freaker, is an immediate standout cut on the tape. Gita’s flow is unrelenting, tough and intimidating as she rifles through several themes and ideas like she’s got a checklist in front of her.

Things then go from the tough, take no prisoners griminess off Mardi Gras to the aforementioned sun drenched delight that is Hood Rich, where things are nice and breezy, courtesy of DJ Two Stacks on the buttons, who is also famed for producing Kreayshawn’s inescapable Gucci Gucci. Two Stacks is also responsible for the creation of the music on Let That, where Gita goes in on the subject of letting a certain someone go.

Short but sweet, thanks to other tracks on the tape such as the starry-eyed Bradun DeShay-produced Benjii and the dreamy SuedeNSilk, Gita’s latest offering gives the listener a taste of her lyrical skills and leaves them wanting more.
