In the wake of the controversy that surrounded Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Control, Jay Electronica has revealed that he planned to use it on his forthcoming album…

Whilst he was enjoying himself at Croatia’s Outlook Festival, Jay Electronica quickly caught up with Vibe to shed some more light on the whole Control situation.

Jay said: “When [Big Sean] told me it wasn’t on his album, I was gonna use it for my album. And then he told me the day before it came out that, ‘Yo, Kendrick put a verse on it, we gonna put it out. But it’s a good thing – it’s a good thing for Hip Hop music because Hip Hop has been laying dormant for a long time.”

Jay Electronica then proceeded to shout out all of the Top Dawg Entertainment crew, plus Joey Bada$$, citing them as the “young gods.”

Jay’s mention of his album was fleeting though, as no further details on that highly anticipated release were unveiled.
