November 8th 2011 was a sad day as we lost another legendary musician. So much more than just an artist Biggie shouted out on Juicy, Hip Hop fans owe a lot to Heavy D. Outside of the records he created, he forged important industry connections which made the genre what it is today.
We have Heavy D to thank for the work of heavyweights such as Pete Rock (D’s cousin) and the artist formerly known as Puff Daddy. In his death, he will be remembered for one other thing, his last tweet: “BE INSPIRED!”
