Just under six months ago, me and my deputy editor, Lauryn Tomlinson, came up with this crazy pipe dream to make a video issue of Viper. Thankfully we both survived and the video actually made it to edit…

Viper Magazine are proud to present a new addition to our repertoire – the video issue. Taking inspiration from nineties skate videos and eighties magazine shows like Network 7, the video affectionately known as “Viper the Movie” takes the reader on a tour through the world of Viper’s creation. Using exclusive footage of freestyles, behind the scenes coverage at fashion shoots and artist interviews, plus exclusive video content from UK and US artists including Da$h, Kojey Radical, Natia, Jammz and Ash Catch’Em. Viper the Movie replicates the experience of flipping through Viper’s print magazine, bringing the same eclectic visual experience we supply with every issue.

A moving collage of film clips – both lo fi and hi fi – Viper the Movie blends gifs and animation alongside various camera formats including VHS, mini DV, SLR and Super 8. In keeping with the theme of our new issue, London to LA, the video serves as an introduction to the music scene in these two great cities while delivering a sneak peek of behind the scenes content from the upcoming print issue of Viper. Included in the video are Da$h, Sir Mikey Rocks, ABRA, KeithCharles SpaceBar, Kojey Radical, Jammz, Natia, 808Ink, Neverland Clan, Phaze What, Ash Catch’Em and an unforgettable feature with legendary LA photographer Estevan Oriol alongside his menagerie of farm animals.

Viper the Movie is a prelude to our SS16 print issue and includes footage from many of the artists and photo shoots featured in the issue. As the first video content we’ve released, the video also celebrates the launch of Viper Digital, our new video platform.
